What are the maximum sizes and thickness of glass panels?

Glass should be ¼” thick. Sheet size should not exceed 8’ wide. We can do several glass panels together with supports at seams.

Are glass wall dividers one sided or two?

Glass can be on one side or both. If another piece of back painted glass is not applied to the opposite side, anything can work in its place. This includes wall paper, paint, tile and more.

What kind of glass is used?

Tempered...ALWAYS. Tempered or toughened glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the interior into tension. Such stresses cause the glass, when broken, to shatter into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards as ordinary annealed glass does. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury.Tempered glass is used for its safety and strength in a variety of applications, including passenger vehicle windows, shower doors, aquariums, architectural glass doors and tables, refrigerator trays, mobile phone screen protectors, bulletproof glass components, diving masks, and plates and cookware.

What thickness are glass counter tops?

Tempered Glass can be ½” or ¾” thick.

Is it possible to put glass on ceilings?

Yes. Thinner glass is used for this application. DESIGN TIP: Be mindful of acoustics in a room. Glass will echo. It can be used in conjunction with acoustic ceiling tiles and other sound absorbing solutions.

Are glass countertops safe and durable?

Yes. The tempered glass absorbs the heat from being annealed at certain temperatures. Annealing is a process of slowly cooling hot glass objects after they have been formed, to relieve residual internal stresses introduced during manufacture.

Who is responsible for installation of product?

Architects, designers and owners should ask their contractors to install any features. Allure Glass Art will guide them as best as possible, and recommend installers if needed.

Mosaic Glass Art

What is mosaic glass art and how does it work?

This glass application is a new form of artistic expression and through a unique system, small cubic pieces of Bohemian glass are fitted like pixels in a digital image, faithfully reproducing any picture in a mosaic. Up close to the mosaic art piece, you will appreciate each Bohemian glass pixel. As you go farther away from the piece, you will see a realistic picture, as clear as a high-resolution photograph. Its unique display effect makes us rethink the whole idea of classic mosaics, through this visual experience created by Bohemian glass in pixel form. Each piece of Bohemian glass is approximately 5×5 mm, using as many colours as necessary. The entire mass of each piece is colored throughout, not just on the surface. This means that the color will remain unaltered for many years, regardless of lighting, temperature and humidity conditions. Once each part has been fitted into place, they are all adhered to the support by means of a resin infusion process. We are also exploring natural adhesives such as glue from trees.

Why is mosaic glass called Bohemiam glass?

Bohemian glass is the name given to glass manufactured in the regions of Bohemia and Silesia, belonging to the Czech Republic and Poland. It dates back to the late 16th century when this exceptional glass was first produced although it was not until the Baroque period that its fame spread throughout the world.

How big can a mosaic piece be?

There are no limits. Our mosaics are made in as many modules as necessary of either 31.5" x 47.25" (80x120 cm) or 31.5" x 23.62" (80x60 cm), and these modules are assembled to form the total set.

Can you install the mosaics outside?

Yes. Glass mosaics are not altered by exposure to the sun or humidity, which makes them suitable for both interiors and exteriors

Can you install the tiles at the bottom of a swimming pool?

Yes.The water does not affect color or wear no matter how long it is submerged.

Can you make a mosaic based on any image?

We will create a rendering based on the high resolution image(s) you provide which will allow us to assess a final deliverable. Different photos are more successful than others. We recommend images that have good contrasting colors. The larger the image, the better it will look from far away.

If I don't like the result, can I return it?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns for custom mosaics. Prior to production you will approve the computer rendering we create for you.

How are mosaics attached to a wall?

Mosaics can be hung in the traditional manner and hardware is included. They can also be glued to the wall or substructure with the same materials that are used to glue sintered dough products. If desired, they can also be installed on aluminum profiles, which would facilitate a possible transfer in the future.
